Alright TokBoxers – we’ve done it.
After considering a metric ton of feedback and extensive internal testing we’ve redesigned conferences. Click on the conference button to check out the new design and enjoy video chatting with your friends. There are a bunch of new features, so many that I don’t have time to highlight them all, but let’s hit the high points.
First you can now drag around videos and enlarge one video in favor of others. Just click on a video drag it around, or double click to make it big or small. This works for YouTube videos too. We don’t quite understand why, but this is oodles of fun, so much so that I think we lost a day of dev time playing with it.
Second, conferences now include a mic volume meter and adjuster in-line so you can perfect your mic audio and a more obvious mute button so you can pop your mic on and off quickly as appropriate. If you live in an airplane hanger like Gaurav or have a computer with a thousand fans like Jason this feature is very helpful.
Finally the flow for joining a conference is now much improved. Rather than just starting your video right away you have to choose to join a conference. So now you can take a minute to clean up your hair or put a shirt on before adding your video to the conference.
If the conference changes aren’t enough for you, we’ve got a second dose of TokBox goodness as well. We’ve redesigned the video mail recorder. The addressing part is now next to the video recording which is, according to one reviewer, “the best thing since sliced bread.” It’s now much easier to address video mails, though not as easy as it could be. We’re continuing to make improvements here including auto-complete addressing. Look for more improvement here in the next release.
That’s it for now. We’re all working hard to make TokBox the best it can be. Let us know what you think of our work!

P.S. Enjoy this chain of video mails that transpired over the last week.

I utilize TokBox in my blog’s media-center page. It’s very functional, user-friendly, and fun to use. I decided to incorporate TokBox into my site to provide a unique readership experience. I hope TokBox would create a wider user interaction like chatrooms for people to gain more friends outside of their own circles.

Is it possible to bring back the mic volume preview on videomailing?
Sometimes when I send email tokbox doesn’t catch my mic and I can’t tell until I replay a video. The little mic bar was very helpful.

Is there a way to remove a guest on a conference call that was uninvited to the chat? I belong to social networking website where young kids are restricted from joining, but they seem to find their way to our tokbox conference calls. I feel uncomfortable to speak about certain topics with these kids around and so do the rest of the adults. Please let me know if there is a way to keep them off our chat area. Thank you.

Hi Anthony,
Moderator tools are something we hope to address in the future, including the ability to kick people out.
