Why use Tokbox for video conferencing?
There may be lots of people offering video conferencing out there, but TokBox is a little bit different and here’s 10 reasons why…
1. It’s free. Of course.
2. It’s super easy to use. You don’t have to download anything and we make it easy to start and join a call
3. You can easily have 20 people in a multi-party call. Have a call with 1 person or more. It’s up to you.
4. Everyone can use it. Tokbox works with both Windows and Mac as well as all major web browsers (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer).
5. You don’t have to sign up. Only the person initiating a conference call needs to have Tokbox account (which is free and takes seconds to set up)
6. It’s easy to get people on the call. Tweet out the unique URL for the call to your Twitter followers or send it via email. People simply click on the link and join the call
7. You can share a YouTube video or SlideShare presentation and watch it together
8. You can send links or text information at the same time as being in a call
9. You can embed it on your site. Take our video call widget and embed it wherever you want people to be able to video conference with you
10. It’s really fun to see everyone in their “Brady Bunch” square
The most important question is *what* can you use video conferencing for? Yes, it can be for work. Saving on business travel expenses in these tough times is obviously a good thing. But there are hundreds of other reasons to get a group together on TokBox.
- Get the friends together for a party. A virtual wedding shower, a birthday party, or just a toast to Friday
- Learn a foreign language. Chat with your instructor and your classmates
- Fan of a particular TV show? Connect with your friends online & discuss the episode in real-time.

Why are images seen as if in mirror while embeding conference on a webpage ?
June 10, 2009 at 9:56 am
Here’s an explanation from engineering about mirroring:
1. by law of optics and physics, the images of a source object (such as myself) showing in the mirror,
is exactly the same as if there were a person standing of the opposite of the mirror
and watching the source object (such as myself)
the same applies to the lens of the camera
2, thus, the displayed image on tokbox screen of myself, should be exactly the same
as the image seen by the other person on the opposite side of the camera lens
So assuming there’s a person on the other side watching me – which is my video chat buddy,
what he seems is the exact same as what in the mirrored image of myself.

That is good enough while chatting with human being … but how about it while sharing power point slides and or images with text or maps ???

Hi,
While we don’t have some of the sharing features you want just yet, I did want to advise that there are services like Jing Project, ManyCam & CamTwist that do allow for a variety of sharing.
Also: Power Points upload to Slideshare can be played in a call.
